How do I sign up for Metuchen Baseball or Softball?

What is the Criteria for my child to play Softball or Baseball in Metuchen?

The Family must live or work in Metuchen, or the Child must go to a school in Metuchen.

How do i know which League my Child can play in?

Baseball Age Chart:

T BALL Pre-K (3 years old by April 1st) - Kindergarten

FARM 1st - 2nd grade (4-5 innings of Coach pitch, and introduction of Kids Pitch)

MINORS 2nd - 4th (3-4 innings of Coach pitch and 2-3 innings of kid pitch. If you are in 2nd grade, and want to play up to minors, you must have played at least 1 year of Farm Rec baseball)

MAJORS 4th - 6th (All Kid Pitch 6 innings, If you are in 4th grade, and want to play up to majors, you must have played at least 1 year of Minors Rec baseball)

What equipment do I need for TBall?

For TBall you need a TBall bat, glove, and helmet with face mask. You DO NOT need cleats. Sneakers will be fine (games will be on the turf field)

What type of Helmet does my child need?

Metuchen asks that your child wears a helmet with a cage or Jaw Guard.

When is the Season and How long is it?

The season typically will start the 2nd weekend of April and run to the 2nd weekend of June.

What is a work bond?

Each Family will be required to perform 9 hours of service for the benefit of MBS per year. To ensure that each Family meets this obligation, each Family must pay $150 upon registration (the “Work Bond”). The Work Bond will be forfeited to MBS if the Family does not complete its hours of service requirement prior to the next annual registration period. Click here for the form

Approved Work Bond Activities: Commissioners, Managers, Assistant Coaches, Team Parents, Field Work,
Snack Bar, Administrative, Coordinators, Events, Equipment, etc.

When are the games?

Baseball Divisions

T-Ball: Wednesday 6:15 to 7:45, Saturday 9:30 to 11:00

Farm: Wednesday 6:15 to 7:45, Saturdays (time TBD)

Minors: Tuesday 6:15 to 8:00, Saturdays (time TBD)

Majors: Thursday 6:15 to 8:00, Saturdays (time TBD)

SOFTBALL:

Rookie Softball: Wednesday 6:15 to 7:45, Saturdays (time TBD)

Minors Softball: Tuesday and Thursday 6:15 to 7:45, Saturdays (time TBD)

Majors Softball: Wednesday and Friday 6:15 to 7:45, Saturdays (time TBD)

Seniors Softball: Weekday TBD

When is the schedule and team placement announced?

Typically, 2 weeks before Opening day the schedule and the teams will be announced.
